Scripture Devotion
Conforming is passive. Transformation is chosen.
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Reflection
Two forces are set against each other: conformed and transformed. Conforming is passive — it's what happens by default, the shape the world presses you into if you offer no resistance. Transformation is the active alternative, and the verse locates it precisely: the renewing of your mind. Not behavior first, but the mind — because the behavior follows what the mind has been made new to see. And the renewed mind has a purpose: to prove — to test and discern — the will of God, which turns out to be good, acceptable, and perfect. The default pressure of the world dulls that discernment; the renewed mind recovers it. As the week ends, the question is which force has been shaping you — the passive conforming, or the active renewing that lets you see clearly again.
