Casting is a throwing — the whole weight, not the manageable portion.
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
Reflection
The word casting is more forceful than it sounds — it's a throwing, a deliberate hurling of the weight away from yourself and onto another. Not setting the care down gently to pick it back up in a minute, but casting it, the way you'd throw off something you're done carrying. And the object is all your care — not the manageable portion, the whole load. The reason given is almost startlingly simple: for he careth for you. The casting is possible because there's someone who cares to catch it — the anxiety can go somewhere because it's going to someone, not into a void. By Friday, with the week's accumulated cares heavy, the verse gives both the instruction and the permission: throw the whole weight, because the one you're throwing it to actually cares for you.
