Not self-improvement — replacement. Not I, but Christ in me.
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
Reflection
The verse holds a paradox it refuses to resolve neatly: crucified, nevertheless I live. Dead, and yet more alive — because the life now is a different one. Not I, but Christ liveth in me. The old self-run life ended; a new one, animated from within by another, took its place. That's not self-improvement; it's replacement. And the fuel of the new life is named: the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Notice how personal the last clause turns — me, not humanity in the abstract. The life is lived by faith in a love that was specific, individual, addressed. A Monday is a good day to start from that ground: not "I must generate a good life," but "Christ lives it in me," powered by a love that came looking with your name on it.
