Scripture Devotion

Nobody drifts into strength — you train into it.

“For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.”
1 Timothy 4:8 (KJV)

Reflection

Paul doesn't tell Timothy to feel godly — he tells him to exercise unto it, the same word an athlete sweats under. The body's training pays for a season; this training pays twice, now and after. Proverbs 22 opens the morning saying a good name is rather to be chosen than great riches — and a good name is built exactly this way, rep by rep, year by year. Pick the one spiritual discipline you've let slide and run the rep today. Not the feeling. The rep.

Motivational Quote

Discipline is the soul of an army. It makes small numbers formidable; procures success to the weak, and esteem to all.

“Discipline is the soul of an army. It makes small numbers formidable; procures success to the weak, and esteem to all.”
— George Washington

Application

Washington wrote that as a young colonel with too few men and too little powder — discipline was the only multiplier he had. It still is. You don't need more hours or more talent today; you need the small numbers you already have, made formidable by doing the ordinary things in order, every time.
