Scripture Devotion

A clear conscience walks out the front door bold as a lion.

“The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.”
Proverbs 28:1 (KJV)

Reflection

Nobody is chasing the wicked man in this verse — that's the point. His own record pursues him, so every knock sounds like a reckoning. The righteous man hears the same knock and opens the door. Paul closes 1 Timothy the same way: godliness with contentment is great gain, and the man not owned by money fights the good fight from a full treasury instead of an anxious one. Boldness isn't volume. It's a settled account. Settle yours before the day starts and watch what you stop being afraid of.

Motivational Quote

Courage is rightly esteemed the first of human qualities, because, as has been said, it is the quality which guarantees all others.

“Courage is rightly esteemed the first of human qualities, because, as has been said, it is the quality which guarantees all others.”
— Winston Churchill

Application

Churchill's point is Proverbs 28:1 in a London accent: every other virtue — honesty, generosity, conviction — only shows up when it costs something, and courage is what pays the bill — a judgment Churchill was passing down, not inventing. But Scripture names the supply line: the righteous are bold because nothing pursues them. Settle your account with God before the day starts, and the first human quality comes with the receipt.
