Scripture Devotion

The Teacher ran the whole experiment — wealth, work, pleasure, wisdom — and watched every return blow away.

“Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.”
2 Timothy 2:3 (KJV)

Reflection

Today we open Ecclesiastes, the costliest research project in Scripture: a king with unlimited budget tries everything under the sun and files the same result on every line — vapor. And on the same morning, Paul hands Timothy the opposite portfolio: a soldier's single aim, an athlete's rules, a farmer's patience, a foundation that standeth sure. The Teacher tells you what the wind takes; Paul tells you what it can't. Sunday is the day to audit which one you spent the week building on.

Motivational Quote

Aim at Heaven and you will get earth 'thrown in': aim at earth and you will get neither.

“Aim at Heaven and you will get earth 'thrown in': aim at earth and you will get neither.”
— C.S. Lewis

Application

Lewis's line is the answer to the Teacher's despair: the problem was never the wealth or the work — it was the aim. Everything under the sun is on loan; what's above it is yours for keeps. Stay at your post, soldier, and aim the week that starts tomorrow at the only target that doesn't blow away. Vigilate.
