Scripture Devotion

Hard seasons don't ask you to escape them — they ask you to stand corded to what holds.

“And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”
Ecclesiastes 4:12 (KJV)

Reflection

Ecclesiastes 3 says every purpose under heaven has its hour; chapter 4 says don't face any of those hours alone — two are better than one, and the threefold cord is not quickly broken. Paul is blunter still: perilous times shall come. His counsel to Timothy isn't to dodge the season but to continue thou in the things which thou hast learned — to stand in it, corded to the people and the Word that hold. This is your season, this Monday, these strands. Braid them tight.

Motivational Quote

When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.

“When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.”
— Edmund Burke

Application

Burke wrote that watching organized corruption outmaneuver scattered honest men — and it's Ecclesiastes 4 in a parliamentary coat: two are better than one, and the threefold cord is not quickly broken. Paul tells Timothy perilous times are coming, then points him to the people and the Word he learned them from. Hard seasons don't ask you to be strong alone; they ask you to be corded. Check your strands this Monday — and be one for somebody else.
