Scripture Devotion

Twelve chapters of vapor, and the Teacher lands on four words: fear God, keep commandments.

“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”
Ecclesiastes 12:13 (KJV)

Reflection

Ecclesiastes ends today. The costliest research project in Scripture — wealth, pleasure, wisdom, work, all tested, all vapor — files its final report in one sentence a child can memorize. Everything under the sun blows away; duty to the One above it doesn't. Paul closes Titus on the same beat: be careful to maintain good works. After all the philosophy, the deliverable is plain: fear God, keep the commandments, do the good works. The whole duty. Carry it into the weekend.

Motivational Quote

England expects that every man will do his duty.

“England expects that every man will do his duty.”
— Horatio Nelson

Application

Nelson raised those flags knowing the day would cost him everything, and the signal asked for nothing clever — only duty, from every man, at his own station. The Teacher's conclusion flies the same flag over an ordinary Friday: your station, your duty, done. That's the whole matter.
