Senses Exercised
“But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”
Reflection
Discernment is not issued. It is trained — by reason of use, the text says, the way a sentry's eyes learn the difference between a shadow and a man. Nobody drifts into maturity. The senses are exercised or they are dulled; there is no third setting. Today's small judgment, made carefully, is tomorrow's instinct.
