Scripture Devotion

He Ever Liveth

“Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.”
Hebrews 7:25 (KJV)

Reflection

The watch you keep is not the only watch being kept. He ever liveth to make intercession — a present-tense sentry who does not rotate off, does not tire at the third hour before dawn, does not lose the thread of your name. To the uttermost means the far edge of your worst day is still inside his jurisdiction.

Motivational Quote

The Next Room

“If I could hear Christ praying for me in the next room, I would not fear a million of enemies. Yet the distance makes no difference; he is praying for me.”
— Robert Murray M'Cheyne

Application

M'Cheyne wrote it in private notes in early 1843, in the last months of his life, with the day's verse two sentences above it. The intercession of Hebrews 7:25 is not doctrine at a distance — it is Christ praying for you, now, as surely as if you heard it through the wall. Walk into today's hardest room on that arithmetic: the distance makes no difference.
